Vim the Basics: Enter and Leave

To enter vim type:
    vim

The first time you enter vim you are lost and you want to escape but even escaping is not that easy. Here is the first secret to leave vim without saving:

1. First switch back to normal mode by typing:
       <Esc>
2. Then quit vim without saving any of your modifications:
       :q!

Now you can enter and leave vim without changing files. You are ready to make experiments.
